Height Notes
Posts, columns, light fixtures, ornamental statues and figurines are not counted in the 4 ft measurement. Where the ground slopes, the fence must step down section by section. Horse-keeping properties may use chain link or other wire up to 5 ft in a front yard. Farming in the agricultural district, stormwater facilities, temporary construction fences and non-residential uses are also exempt from the 4 ft front-yard cap. A lot with a street at each end is exempt from the 4 ft front-yard cap, except in the area between the front door and the street the lot is accessed from.

4 ft and under: brick or brick veneer, stucco, synthetic stucco, rock, stone, cast stone, wood, wrought iron, or other engineered facades matching those materials. Chain link is not on that list. Over 4 ft: the same list, plus green or black vinyl-coated chain link. Within 800 ft of State Route 74: a fence or wall required for screening must be decorative wood, stone, stucco on block, decorative block or brick, 8 ft max, and decorative wrought iron only for architectural or security purposes (Sec. 113-191).

Design Requirements
