Most side and back yards: 8 ft max. If that side or back runs along a street: 4 ft max, all the way to the rear lot line.
Height Notes
Height is measured from the grade plane. A variance can add up to 2 ft of fence or retaining wall height. Temporary chain-link security fencing up to 6 ft may surround a property for up to 30 days before and 30 days after demolition or construction work.
Corner Lots

Chain link may not be visible from a public plaza, sidewalk dining area or public right-of-way, unless the property is agricultural or industrial.
Historic Districts
No historic district fence review in Chamblee. The downtown Antique Row area is protected by other bodies, but no certificate of appropriateness applies to fences.

Design Requirements
Posts face inward toward your own property and must be anchored in concrete. There is no finished-side-out rule beyond that. A fence in the front yard or on a side facing a street must be at least 50 percent see-through. On a slope, the fence may step down, but supports must stay vertical and plumb.
Gates
Ornamental posts and vehicle gates may be up to 6 ft, as long as the surrounding fence is no taller than 4 ft. No gate setback from the right-of-way.
