Permit Requirements
No permit required for fences 7 ft or under. Permit required for fences over 7 ft, masonry/concrete walls over 4 ft, or properties in Conservation/Historic/Landmark/SPI districts. AG-1 agricultural fences exempt.
Height - Front Yard
4 ft max. Must be ornamental: brick, masonry, picket, or split rail. Chain link and woven wire prohibited in front yard.

Materials Allowed
Front yard: brick, masonry, picket, split rail (ornamental). Side/rear: various materials permitted.
Materials Prohibited
Front yard: chain link and woven wire prohibited. Residential lots under 3 acres: barbed wire and electric fences prohibited.
Historic Districts
Properties in Conservation, Historic, Landmark, SPI districts require Special Administrative Permit for fences.
Setbacks
Allowed on side/rear property lines. Not in street right-of-way. Fences after 4/27/1999 prohibited in drainage easements without county permission.
Design Requirements
Front yard must be ornamental design. All damaged/missing portions must be replaced with comparable materials.

Masonry/concrete walls over 4 ft require permit
