Permit Requirements
Permit required for fences >7 ft in height (variance required from Zoning Board of Appeals). Permit required for masonry/concrete walls >4 ft. No permit for standard residential fences ≤7 ft.

4 ft max. Must be ornamental design (brick, masonry, picket, split rail).
Height - Side/Rear
8 ft max. 6 ft max if within required setback adjacent to public road.

Height measured from grade. Fences >7 ft require permit and ZBA variance.
Corner Lots
Vision clearance required: no obstructions 3-15 ft high within 25 ft of street intersections.
Materials Allowed
Front yard: brick, masonry, picket, split rail only. Side/rear: most materials allowed.
Materials Prohibited
Chain link and woven wire prohibited in front yard. Barbed wire and electric fences prohibited on residential lots <3 acres.

Setbacks
Place 6 inches off property line onto your own property. Not allowed in public right-of-way or future street ROW. Not allowed in drainage easements without written county permission.
Design Requirements
Front yard fences must use ornamental materials. External bracing beyond intended posts not permitted. Damaged sections must be replaced with comparable materials.
