Permit Requirements
Fence permit required. Wood or chain link fences over 7 feet require building permit. Contact Development Services for all fence installations.

4 feet maximum in residential zones

6 feet maximum in residential zones

Section 9.6 Fences and Walls of Savannah Zoning Ordinance (effective Sept 2019). Fences over 7 feet need building permit. Historic district fences have additional restrictions.
