Height - Front Yard
48 in max for any wall or fence other than a retaining wall. On a lot with streets on two sides, the narrower street side is the front; in a residential district a lot running street to street has a front yard on each.
Height - Side/Rear
6 ft max in a side or back yard. The 6 ft limit does not apply in the manufactured housing park, industrial, general commercial and neighborhood commercial districts; it still applies in the downtown village commercial district.

In a cottage housing development, a fence between a house and the street or the common open space is capped at 42 in. The 6 ft limit is written for a required yard, meaning the setback strip along a property line. The code sets no general rule for how fence height is measured.

In the floodway nothing may go in unless an engineer certifies it will not raise flood levels or widen the floodway, and no fill is allowed there.
