Pool fences in Dallas: 4 ft (48 in) minimum per Georgia state code, with self-closing, self-latching gates.

Height - Front Yard
Three front-yard rules conflict: 3 ft solid or 4 ft mostly open in the fence table, 4 ft in the text, 3 ft in the code's fence diagram. 3 ft or less meets all three.
Height - Side/Rear
Residential: 6 ft max, sides and back. Commercial, office, churches, schools, parks, parking lots and pools: 6 ft max. Industrial: 8 ft max.
Height Notes
A front-yard fence must let you see straight through at least 50% of it. A fence may reach 8 ft in special cases: where the ground within 20 ft of the neighboring house sits at least 4 ft higher than at the lot line; where a side or back lot line runs along a collector or arterial street in a multi-lot subdivision; where GDOT or Homeland Security requires it; where City Council authorizes extra height; or where the lot line borders a C-2, I-2 or more intense use. Industrial use: 8 ft in every yard. Farm operations and athletic-facility fences are exempt.

Materials Allowed
Wood, decorative metal, textured masonry, or synthetic materials styled to look like natural ones. Chain link: allowed in all districts, but in residential districts only in the back yard, and it must be vinyl-coated.

Historic Districts
The city has a Historic Preservation Commission. Extra rules may apply in historic areas.

Design Requirements
Along a public street or public easement, the finished face of the fence must face the public way.
