Permit Requirements
No permit required for fence installation, but all fences must meet code standards (Section FW-01).
Height - Front Yard
4 feet maximum in front and side yards (Section FW-04)
Height - Side/Rear
8 feet maximum in rear yards (Section FW-04)
Height Notes
Sections FW-01 through FW-07 of county development code. Agricultural: 5ft front/side, 8ft rear for farmstead; 6ft livestock; up to 10ft exotic animal containment (50ft+ from property line).

Must comply with vision clearance requirements (JCC 20.50.910)
Materials Allowed
Front/side: wood, composite outdoor wood, stone, masonry, wrought iron, decorative metal. Rear: also vinyl, zinc/powder coated chain link.
Materials Prohibited
Barbed wire, above-ground electrified wires, razor wire, broken glass, sharpened top spikes, and similarly hazardous materials. Metal or plastic slats within chain link fences prohibited.
Setbacks
Fences permitted up to the property line. No wall within a public or private easement without written permission from easement holder.
Design Requirements
Nonstructural face must face outward (except pastured animal containment). All fences must be properly maintained. Subdivision covenants may impose stricter restrictions.
