Permit Requirements
Permit required for fences >6 ft in height. Site plan required showing fence location. Environmental Health approval required if on septic (770-781-6909).

Fences >6 ft in locations other than front yard require permit from Zoning Administrator. Height measured from finished grade.
Corner Lots
No fence shall obstruct visibility at street intersections or driveways. Vision clearance required.
Materials Allowed
Not specifically restricted. Front yard fences must present finished and attractive surface to street frontage.
Materials Prohibited
Chain-link prohibited in front yard of residential lots. Exposed concrete block, tires, junk, discarded materials prohibited.

Setbacks
Masonry/rock walls: 1 ft setback from side/rear property line. May be built on property line with written agreement between both property owners (plat or deed evidence required).
Design Requirements
Front yard fences must present finished and attractive surface. Fences shall not be incompatible with residential character.

Retaining Walls
Over 6 ft (measured from bottom of footing to top) require permit and professional engineering. Plans must be approved by Engineering Department before permit issuance.
