6 ft max at homes. Commercial and industrial districts: 8 ft. A fence around a tennis court, pool or similar special-purpose facility may be up to 12 ft.

Corner Lots

Historic Districts
Ch. 8.37: a Certificate of Appropriateness from the preservation commission is required before erecting, altering or removing a fence or wall on a designated historic property or in a designated historic district.

Design Requirements
If the structural supports are mostly on one side, that side must face the inside of your property. A home's front yard fence must stay at least 50 percent see-through from the street. The approved subdivision plat and, where it applies, the Parkway Mixed Use Overlay District also control; the stricter rule wins.
Gates
Adding a gate up to 8 ft wide to an existing fence needs no permit. All gates on a pool fence must have self-closing, positive-latching hardware.
Color Restrictions
Chain link: all exposed metal must be vinyl-coated or painted a standard dark brown, dark green or black to blend into the natural surroundings.
